When tasting Chateau Phelan-Segur 2015, the wine has a bright color with ruby highlights. The nose is rich, blending fruity fragrances such as strawberry and cherry with subtle notes of licorice and smoke. On the palate, the wine is tender, well-balanced with powerful tannins, concentration, and a rich aromatic profile, resulting in a delicious taste.
Chateau Phelan-Segur, a prestigious Saint-Estephe winery, was established in the early 19th century and boasts a splendid view of the Gironde estuary.The estate’s 70-hectare vineyard is located in the heart of the appellation and is divided into four distinct plots. The vines have an average age of 35 years and grow on a clayey gravel soil.Regarding the 2015 vintage, a cool winter caused a delay in budburst, but a mild spring allowed for a rapid and even flowering period. July was hot and dry, while August and September were cooler with sporadic storms.
