This wine shines like a diamond. I am impressed by this Cab by Julien Fayard. It exceeds expectations, and presents an abundance of opulent dark berry and currant flavors that are intertwined with enticing hints of cloves and anise. The wine is remarkably approachable with well-integrated tannins that contribute to a smooth and velvety mouthfeel from the first sip to the lingering finish. I would recommend a 20-30 minute decant to help let the wine open up.
Recoltant is an exciting venture led by Julien Fayard, an accomplished winemaker with experience in both France and California. His winemaking journey began during his childhood on his uncle’s estate in Provence, where he developed his skills by producing rosé. From there, he gained valuable experience at renowned wineries such as Châteaux Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Laffite before settling in Napa Valley. In Napa, he further immersed himself in the local wine scene, working closely with Phillipe Melka and other successful consultant winemakers.
