Olivier Riviere is a French winemaker who began his career studying oenology in the Bordeaux region of France. After working at several wine estates, he moved to Spain and worked with Elian Da Ros in Marmandais before joining Domaine Leroy to learn more about biodynamic methods. Later, he went to Domaine de Chassorney to gain insight into non-interventionist winemaking techniques. With limited funds, Olivier purchased a small, 1-hectare vineyard in Arlanza, which sits at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level, where he started producing biodynamic Tempranillo with a unique depth and freshness. A few years later, he bought a small vineyard in Rioja, where he now produces some of the most elegant examples of this popular wine. The vineyard in Arlanza experiences a temperature difference of up to 20 degrees between day and night, which contributes to the wine’s distinctive character.
