Domaine des Tourelles Rouge is a flagship red wine produced by the Domaine des Tourelles winery. With its ruby red color and complex aromas it boasts notes of ripe red cherries, raspberries, mint, and a hint of sage. This wine features a unique twist as it is exclusively fermented and aged in the estate’s ancient concrete tanks. This technique results in a wine that is vibrant and full of expressive aromas, accurately reflecting the hot days and cool nights of the Bekaa Valley. The wine is released in early spring to preserve its juicy dark fruit flavors, making it a delightful and fresh-tasting option. The palate of this wine bursts with an abundance of juicy fruit flavors, while elegant tannins effortlessly coat the mouth. The wine’s refreshing quality provides it with an exceptional drinkability factor. The finish is lively and balanced, exhibiting an alluring harmony of fruit, savory herbs, and spice.
Domaine des Tourelles is a renowned winery located in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. Established in 1868, it is one of the oldest wineries in the region and has a long history of producing high-quality wines. The winery uses a blend of traditional and modern winemaking techniques, and its vineyards are situated at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level. Faouzi Issa and his two sisters, Christiane and Joanne, along with Emile Issa-el Khoury, run Domaine des Tourelles today, after the Issa and Issa-el-Khoury families purchased it in 2000. Faouzi, who was trained at renowned estates like Rene Rostaing in Côte Rôtie and Château Margaux in Bordeaux, assumed the role of winemaker when he was only 24 years old. He is committed to organic viticulture and employs minimal interference in the cellar. Native yeasts are used for fermentation, and he uses vegetarian fining agents when necessary. Locally grown dried thistle is used for filtering the wine, and no other additives are introduced, except for small amounts of sulfur at bottling.
